ABOUT

I am a Masters qualified & clinically registered Counsellor with PACFA and Accredited Supervisor with PACFA & AAOS.

For the past 20 years I have immersed myself in the study and practice of sitting with those experiencing challenges related to if, when & how they have their babies. In counselling I value my previous career in dance performance as I believe the practice of counselling is as much an art as a science just as is having babies.

Much of my expertise has grown from having worked with varying degrees of reproductive loss, including pregnancy options counselling, infertility and IVF support, perinatal mental health, abortion counselling, parenting and with reproductive health issues. I have provided my clients with counselling, group support and presented to health professionals in various perinatal settings such as midwifery programs, hospital day surgery environments, Maternal and Child Health services & psychiatric inpatient settings.  My expertise and understanding of the issues women, couples and families face when immersed in the perinatal period is highly specialised. I know from listening to clients that when confronted by the unexpected you need someone by your side.

Much of what I feel is needed in counselling is companionship in facing challenges that question our identity, the willingness to walk beside someone whilst they sit in the uncertainty & to reflect on what has been identified as key values from which to gain clarity and understanding to find the way forward. I love to help bring a person into greater congruence with who they want to be, given the reality of who they have needed to become.

For the entire time I am with you I am focused on your experience by placing you as the expert in your own life. I add an outside eye to broaden perspective, harvest insights and join the dots not unlike a detective to create meaning & make sense of what has occurred to bring you to my room. I do this with kindness and unconditional positive regard by acknowledging your strengths in finding your way forward.
